Roger Ebert honored for 'Making History'

June 7, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Ebert was presented with the Joseph Medill Patterson Honor, named for the legendary journalist who started out as a police reporter at The Chicago Tribune. He went on to create the New York Daily News.

Ebert has an award winning website and blog, is an avid tweeter, but he is a newspaper man at heart.

Ebert has nearly 650,000 followers on Twitter, and he hopes they all read his column in The Sun Times, too

Ebert says surfing the Web for news only gets you sources that reflect your politics and interests. He says newspapers "broaden the mind" with many outlooks, while the World Wide Web -- ironically -- narrows it.
