The accident happened at approximately 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 700-block of East Solidarity Drive.
The officer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in stable condition. The incident led to a police chase, officers across the city pursued the motorcyclist.
He drove west out of the city, and the chase involved Illinois State Police, but he was not caught and the chase ended.
