Scientists say limiting your daily sitting time to less than three hours a day could add an extra two years to your life.

The study also found restricting TV viewing time to less than two hours could extend life by 1.4 years.

A number of previous studies have linked a lot of time sitting, or watching TV, with poor health such as diabetes, and death from heart disease and stroke.

These findings are published in the online journal BMJ Open.
