Pro beach volleyball's Kathryn Babcock

Kathryn Babcock is entering her third year as a pro beach volleyball player and has played in over 30 tournaments, five of which she took home the winning title.

She talked with ABC7. In 2011, Babcock and partner Sheila Shaw won their first domestic beach volleyball title at the Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Milwaukee Shootout in Milwaukee, WI. Babcock is also a newlywed, having recently married Benjamin Piening.

Local and Pro Beach Volleyball Athletes to Compete July 13-15 on the Shores of Lake Michigan

The Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Series winds up for the third stop in the seven-event series with the Chicago Open taking place on the shores of Lake Michigan July 13-15. Beginning with the qualifying round on Friday, July 13, the Chicago Open dives into action on Saturday, July 14 as both men and women professional beach volleyball players hit the sand in an elimination tournament that showcases the country's best athletes. The Finals take place on Sunday, July 15 as the top contenders compete for a piece of the $100,000 prize purse.

Though the intensity and heart-pounding action are enough to bring you to the beach, title sponsor Jose Cuervo will fill the sand with entertainment as the Cuervo Village creates a full festival-like atmosphere featuring music, consumer contests, giveaways and Jose Cuervo cocktails (where legal - in designated areas) to be enjoyed responsibly by fans 21 years of age of older.
