CFD investigates reports of gas odor in Lincoln Park; no leak found

July 16, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Hundreds walked out of buildings in Lincoln Park because of the odor, but no evacuation was ordered.

The fire department received calls about the odor in 34 different buildings. But every building was checked and each one was found to be safe.

Fire officials say it's possible the source of the smell is the chemical that is put in natural gas to give it an odor and not the gas itself.
