Report: Police overtime to cost Chicago $14M

July 17, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The city's overtime plan began early in June and allows the department to deploy hundreds of additional police officers between Thursday and Monday by paying officers to work on their days off.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the overtime money is already accounted for in the city budget because it is similar to policing strategies implemented in past years.
