Police are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a popular restaurant in southwest Michigan.

A viewer sent video to USeeIt@abc7chicago.com of the fire Tuesday night at the Stray Dog in New Buffalo, Michigan.

The fire broke out just after 9 p.m.

Fire officials say it spread quickly causing the roof to collapse.

There were customers and employees inside at the time of the fire, but they managed to get out safely.

Investigators say the fire may have started in the front of the building.
