Durbin announces U. S. Attorney screening committee

Illinois Senator Dick Durbin Thursday announced a six-person screening committee to help him and Senator Mark Kirk find a replacement for former U. S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

"What you're looking for is someone who is not political, who's going to call them as they see them. Someone who is dollar honest, great integrity, a person who understands the law and can use it effectively. And finally, someone that can organize an office, a U.S. District Attorney's office to work with the FBI and otehr law enforcement agencies to get the most of tax dollars that are being spent," said Durbin.

Senators Durbin and Kirk have asked the committee to accept applications next month and make a recommendation by early October.
