Four-year-old Maya Hirsch was killed in 2006 while crossing a street at a crosswalk near Lincoln Park Zoo. Under a settlement approved Monday by a City Council committee, Chicago would pay $3.25 million.
The man convicted in the hit-and-run said he could not see the stop sign at the intersection. The Hirsch family filed a lawsuit, accusing the city of failing to properly maintain the stop sign and other traffic markings at the intersection.
