Throughout August, animal trainers are hosting "Critter Camps" where children can come for the week to learn how to be a zookeeper by learning how to clean, tend and care for zoo animals while shadowing zoo staff. There's also an Adopt an Animal program. The park operated as "Santa's Village" from 1959 to 2006, when it closed. After extensive rehabilitation, it re-opened in 2011 under new ownership and a new name because of a shared focus on both rides and animals.
