Fuel spill shut down Bishop Ford Expressway

July 31, 2012

The spill was on the Bishop Ford Freeway near 130th street and all outbound traffic was shut down Tuesday night for more than two hours.

A relatively routine wreck was made much worse by the fact that there is diesel fuel spilled across the highway.

One car and two trucks became tangled up at around 8:30 p.m., with the impact being so severe it punctured the fuel tank on one of the semis sending 200 gallons of fuel spilling onto the pavement.

Crews continued to work to remove the vehicles and soak up the fuel spill and traffic began slowly moving before midnight.
