Former Al Piemonte Suzuki employee files racial suit

August 2, 2012 (Northlake, Ill.)

Laurence Phifer said he was fired when he complained to management about racial taunts and the work environment.

Phifer says he was told he was being let go because of "low production," even though he was the top grossing salesman.

"I've seen a lot, a whole lot in the car business, but this is different, it's taking a lot out of me. I'm getting older. Sometimes you don't spring back like you did when you're younger," said Phifer.

Phifer, who is looking for a new job, said he is suing for back pay and punitive damages.

Al Piemonte Suzuki has not commented.
