A roller coaster at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee is now a landmark.

The whizzer opened in 1976, the same year as the amusement park.

At the time it was called Willard's Whizzer.

According to the American Coasters Enthusiasts, it's the last roller coaster of its type in North America.

It's the second coaster at Great America to be designated a landmark. The other is Batman the Ride.
