In return, the "We Are One Illinois" coalition wants a guarantee that in the future, the state will make its required payments to the pension systems.
The coalition also called on lawmakers to reject all pending pension legislation including a bill which could be called for a house vote Friday. That bill includes cutting retiree cost of living adjustments.
According to the union group, current employees would then be willing to increase their own contributions.
