Refund for hero-themed vitamins offered

August 15, 2012

NBTY admits its vitamins contained only a fraction of the nutritional value claimed on the packaging.

The pills were advertised as containing a dose of DHA that would satisfy 100 percent of a child's daily requirement, but the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says in some cases, the vitamins contained only small amounts of DHA.

DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid found in fish.

The vitamins were sold at a number of major retailers and online for between $4 and $8.

If you think you bought a box between May 2008 and September 2010, you can file a claim on the FTC's website until October 12.
