Boston Market cuts salt in popular dishes: chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes

August 21, 2012 (GOLDEN, Colo.)

Boston Market is best known for its rotisserie chicken and often-salty side dishes. But Tuesday, the chain announced plans to reduce sodium levels in that chicken, as well as macaroni and cheese and mashed potato sides.

The reduction is expected to happen over the next six months.

Boston Market is also removing salt shakers from the tables, but they will still be available at beverage stations.

The chain says, to boost flavors in foods with less salt, it is adding more garlic and herbs.
