As the Bears get ready for their third preseason game of the year at the Giants on Friday, social media concerning the Bears is buzzing about Brian Urlacher and an alleged procedure he may have had in Germany for his ailing left knee.

The Bears captain was on hand Wednesday morning to watch practice at Halas Hall.

A report in The Chicago Tribune said, in May or early June, Urlacher went to Germany to meet with a doctor, presumed to be Dr. Peter Wehling, about regenokine treatment, a procedure that uses the patient's blood to speed the healing of a knee joint.

The procedure is not approved by the FDA.

Urlacher and Coach Lovie Smith neither confirmed or denied the story Wednesday.

Urlacher would only say: "I was definitely in Europe last year."
