Post-menopausal diet? Cut back on desserts, sugary drinks, researchers say

August 31, 2012

Now new research may make it easier.

Post-menopausal women may experience a decrease in the amount of energy their bodies use.

Traditional diets may not work.

A study in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics looked at alternatives.

Fewer desserts and sugary drinks were related to long term weight loss. So were eating more fruits and vegetables, and less meat and cheese.

However, cutting back on fried foods, while good for short term weight loss, did not seem to be as important to shedding pounds long term.
