South Side pastor wants to replace Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.

September 3, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Reverend Anthony Williams announced his write-in candidacy for the 2nd congressional district on Monday.

Congressman Jackson continues to undergo treatment for bi-polar disorder at Minnesota's Mayo Clinic.

Williams said the district is not being represented politically because of Congressman Jackson's absence, which began in June.

"We have an absentee congressman rite now. The people of the 2nd congressional district need service," said Williams.

Two candidates on the ballot oppose Congressman Jackson.

They are Republican Brian Woodworth, and Independent Marcus Lewis.
