Woman says traffic ticket helped her lose weight

A South Carolina woman who once weighed 408 pounds credits a traffic ticket for saving her life.

Janette Colantonio received a citation for failing to wear a seatbelt.

Colantonio admits she hadn't buckled up in years because she couldn't get the strap across her frame.

Trooper Mark Amos wrote her a ticket in March of 2011.

Since then, Colantonio has lost more than 200 pounds without pills or surgery. Colantonio says she eats healthy and stays active.

Researchers say extremely obese people are 60 percent less likely to wear seatbelts. They are 56 percent more likely to die in a crash because of it.
