September 7, 2012 (CHICAGO) --If you still have overdue library books, get them turned in now, or pay up. The Chicago Public Library amnesty program is about to end.
No fines will be charged for any materials brought back by the end of the day Friday.
During this three-week amnesty program, a book checked out in 1934 was finally returned. The $6,000 overdue fee was waived.
