Traffic safety improvements outside Cook County Jail

Traffic safety improvements are being made outside the Cook County Jail to better protect corrections officers. This comes after the death of Officer Nikki Bostic-Jones.

Bostic-Jones was killed in a hit-and-run crash in July as she walked to work.

Pedestrian crosswalks will be made in the 2900-block of South California, along with pedestrian islands in the middle of the roadway.

Crews will also add high-visibility signs and pavement markings around the jail.
