Time capsule found at landmark Chicago building

September 17, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Randolph Tower once was home to the Steuben Club, a stomping ground for movers and shakers during the Depression era.

Inside the time capsule are newspapers from 1928 and a Steuben Club yearbook. At some point, in the mid-50s items from that era were added, too.

Alderman Brendan Reilly was on hand today to add more items before the capsule is hidden again.

"I'm thrilled to be here working with this team to repopulate this time capsule, put it back in the wall that 60 70 years down the road folks can see what was going on in the city of Chicago today," said Reilly.

The Randolph Tower city apartments is now a 45-story building.
