School board meets as CPS CEO defends his low profile

September 25, 2012 (CHICAGO)

The agenda does not mention the new contract. Teachers are expected to vote on the new deal in early October.

Meanwhile, CPS CEO Jean-Claude Brizard, who was rarely seen during the strike, spoke with the Huffington Post about his low profile.

"I got in a car and drove from school to school. Things were raw. My goal was to try and build the community so when this was over it wouldn't be horrible," Brizard said.

Brizard also addressed his future with CPS.

"The reports about my demise have been greatly exaggerated. I don't expect to be fired but if the mayor decides I am not the right person for him, that's OK."

However, Mayor Rahm Emanuel has shared positive comments about Brizard, even publicly supporting him and his leadership.
