Streamwood kidnapping, robbery suspect turns himself in

September 29, 2012 (STREAMWOOD, Ill.)

According to police, Keewon Taylor, 20, took a man -- with whom police say he is acquainted -- from his Streamwood home at gunpoint and ordered him to drive that victim's car to an undisclosed location. They never got there, however, because the victim fought the gunman off. He crashed his own car, and the gunman then ran off into a wooded, industrial-type area.

Police responded very quickly with a massive search from a number of departments. They used police dogs as well as a helicopter.

On Friday, Tefft Middle School and Heritage Elementary School were put on lockdown as a precaution, and parents were called to come get students at the end of the school day.

About eight different schools were on soft lockdown.

Police have not released information on charges.
