Plane returns to ORD after smoke in cockpit

American Eagle flight 3840 returned to O'Hare International Airport on Monday afternoon after smoke was reported in the plane's cockpit.

The plane, which was headed to Atlanta, landed without incident at O'Hare around 4 p.m., about an hour after it took off.

Fifty-three passengers and crew members were on the flight. Passengers were taken off the plane and will be re-accommodated, according to American Airlines.
