'The Nanny Diaries' author releases new book, 'Over You'

October 12, 2012 (CHICAGO)

McLaughlin and Kraus are the best-selling authors of "The Nanny Diaries", which was released as a major motion picture starring Scarlett Johansson. In their second young adult novel, "Over You" the heart of a 17 year old by the name of Max Scott is broken. After that happens, she launches a business to help girls in New York bounce back from tough breakups.

Naturally, things get complicated when Max's ex-boyfriend shows up on her doorstep. McLaughlin and Kraus say they aim to send a message to teenage girls that it takes courage and resilience to face heartbreak.

McLaughlin and Kraus' top five things you should do to get over a break up:

1. Treat your ex like an addiction.

2. Treat yourself like an athlete.

3. Enlist a cheerleader.

4. You can always call tomorrow.

5. Don't be your own worst publicist.
