Governor Pat Quinn and the Illinois Housing Development Authority hosted the program at the South Holland Community Center to help residents keep their homes.
Quinn says that it's important for all Illinoisans to work together.
"We the people of Illinois, when someone has a bad break, we help them out. We want to keep people in their homes," he said.
This was the third in a series of foreclosure-prevention workshops by the state.
Nearly 4,600 homeowners have already gotten cash assistance through the program.
