Extra sleep may pay off for school-aged children

October 15, 2012

McGill University researchers found that kids who slept that extra amount each night were less impulsive, less easily distracted and less likely to have temper tantrums.

They looked at 34 children with no behavioral medical or academic issues between the ages of 7 and 11.

Sleep experts say these results make sense and provide more evidence about the importance of sleep.

The findings are published in the November issue of Pediatrics.
