Naperville is increasing police and firefighter presence downtown because of an uptick in late-night violence.

Some city council members are raising questions about the safety of firefighters in their new roles.

The fire department has been sending them to check bars late on weekend nights to see if they are overcrowded.

The police chief tells ABC7 that four of his officers will work overtime late night to try to prevent fights and other crime.
