O'Hare X-ray body scanners to be phased out

The controversial airport X-ray body scanners are being phased out at O'Hare International Airport.

The Transportation Safety Administration started replacing the so-called "back-scatter" X-ray machines in major airports across the country early this month.

Less-invasive low-energy radio-wave scanners are going in instead.

Officials say that the new machines are quicker, but that they also mean fewer fliers will be exposed to high levels of radiation.
