Losing sleep can result in weight gain, study shows

October 26, 2012

A study in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics examined the effects of "partial sleep" on hormone levels in the blood and on hunger levels and eating habits.

Partial sleep is defined as four to six hours of sleep a night

Researchers found that partial sleep deprivation may cause you to eat more and to consume more foods high in fat.

The authors recommend evaluating sleep patterns and getting enough sleep regularly, especially if you are watching your weight.
