Study: Even active people sit too much

October 30, 2012

Researchers at Northwestern University tracked the activity of 90 healthy women. They found that even those who got in a good workout daily dedicate much of their day to sitting at a desk.

Past studies show that people who sit for extended periods of time are more likely to develop chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity and some cancers.

Researchers say even athletic people who take a break instead of sitting at a desk all day could gain health benefits.
