Fortunately there is a new single 10-minute hair treatment could get rid of them for good. The drug is called Ivermectin and has been used in oral form since the 1980s to control parasitic diseases.

One application of Ivermectin, also known as sklice, offers parents a faster and more effective way to get rid of lice, according to a new study published in the 'New England Journal of Medicine'.

The treatment kept almost 3/4 of treated children lice-free two weeks after treatment, without the dreaded fine toothed combing to remove the lice eggs.

Current treatments are only about 50 percent effective.
