Study: Miscarriages increase heart risks

November 7, 2012

That's the finding of a study presented at the American Heart Association annual meeting.

It found women who had one miscarriage were 11 percent more likely to suffer a heart attack.

That risk more than doubled in women who had four or more miscarriages.

There was a 13 percent increased risk of stroke for women who had one miscarriage and then women who had four or more miscarriages had an 89 percent increased risk of stroke.

Researchers still don't know why this is and say this study does not prove a direct cause and effect.
