Drew Peterson lawyers trying to get conviction tossed

November 16, 2012 (JOLIET, Ill.)

In a motion filed Friday, Peterson's new legal team blames his former longtime lawyer Joel Brodsky of providing ineffective counsel. The motion claims Brodsky committed a number of crucial errors during the ex-Bolingbrook cop's trial on charges he killed his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

Peterson's new lawyer Dave Pielet says his client is in good spirits.

"He's feeling good. He sees the case is progressing. That issues he wanted brought to the court's attention have been brought. He's looking forward to addressing those issues and he's looking forward to moving forward with the case," Dave Pielet, Peterson's attorney, said.

If the motion is not granted, the case will move forward with Peterson's sentencing. He was convicted of Savio's murder in September.
