Police help rescue people from S. Side fire

November 29, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Chicago Fire officials said that everyone was able to make it out the burning building safely.

It was still an active fire scene late Thursday night at 54th and Union.

Fire officials have been inside the building making sure that all the hot spots are taken care of and investigating the scene.

A neighbor knocked on the door to make sure that everyone else was able to get out safely.

Officials also said that a police officer may have been involved in this rescue effort. That is something officials were still checking out late Thursday night.
