Cramming a growing problem for cell phone users

December 4, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Cramming is a growing problem, according to the Citizens Utility Board. CUB says it's typically just a few dollars, and may be difficult to spot because the charges are often hidden among the legitimate fees.

"It's a little more complicated on the wireless side just because people use their wireless phones in different ways and there are probably more examples of legitimate third party charges on wireless bills," David Kolata, CUB, said.

Kolata says those legitimate charges include donations made to organizations such as the Red Cross.
