Is hunger all in your head?

December 6, 2012

Researchers discovered that feelings of hunger can be linked to the amount of food people think they ate, according to a new study in the journal "Plos One".

Researchers tested this by showing volunteers a bowl of soup and instructed them to eat it. What participants didn't know is the actual contents may not have been what they saw.

A secret pump would refill or deplete the bowl without the eater knowing.

Several hours after the meal, people who were shown the larger bowls of soup said they were less hungry than those who had seen the smaller ones.

It was regardless of if they ate more or less.
