Chicago-area survivors remember Pearl Harbor on 71st anniversary

December 7, 2012 (NORTH CHICAGO, Ill.)

Survivors of the attack joined World War II veterans, their descendants and others to pay tribute.

The Naval Station Great Lakes hosted an event marking the 71st anniversary of Pearl Harbor in Des Plaines at Oakton Place.

The NSGL's commanding officer, Capt. Randy Lynch, spoke before a crowd of Pearl Harbor survivors, their descendants and World War II veterans.

A special wreath was placed honoring those who gave of their lives in Pearl Harbor.

The event was orchestrated by the Illinois Chapter 1 Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. They also had a Pearl Harbor display room available for those attending.
