Catholic high school to close at end of school year

December 9, 2012 (CHICAGO)

St. Gregory the Great High School in the 1600 block of West Bryn Mawr is shutting down.

St. Gregory was the archdiocese of Chicago's first co-ed high school.

A drop in enrollment and financial issues have hurt the school.

Students will be given preference at Holy Trinity High School, where their tuition will remain the same, or they will receive a $1,000 subsidy to attend another Catholic high school.
