FDA: Chantix may carry heart risks

The FDA says as a result, doctors should weigh the risks of the drug against its benefits.

A major review of the drug found slightly higher rates of serious cardiovascular events, including non-fatal heart attacks, non-fatal stroke and cardiovascular-related death.

Experts are quick to point out that the increased risk was not statistically significant. They are asking that smokers talk to their doctors before taking the drug.
