With less than a month left in the year 2012, the shows overall crimes are down almost 8.5 percent since 2011. That is the biggest reduction in the past 20 years.
Burglaries, according to the memo, are down 15 percent so far this year, and car thefts are down 13 percent.
However, the number of murders this year is more than last year.
