Brothers Grimm fairytales mark 200 years

In 1812, the Grimm brothers published volume one of "Kinder- und Hausmärchen" (Children and Household Tales), containing 86 numbered folktales, according to Pittsburgh University.

The Grimm brothers wrote classic fairytales such as Cinderella, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, and Snow White.

The fairytales eventually totaled 209, according to Carnegie Mellon University.

Jacob was 27, Wilhelm was 26, when they first published the classic collection.

A 2005 movie using the brothers as characters in a fictitious plotline was released in 2005, featuring Matt Damon and Heath Ledger.
