37th Ward Alderman Emma Mitts hosted her annual holiday toy giveaway at La Follette Park.
Children had the chance to pick out a present donated by neighborhood businesses and community groups. Organizers expected to help more than 600 families.
Chef Alan Lake cooked up a holiday feast for 200 people living at the Salvation Army's Harbor Light Center.
A community dinner will be served Christmas Day and the Salvation Army will deliver food to the homeless.
