Even though more than a million new cancer cases are diagnosed every year, the number of people getting preventative cancer screenings has dropped in the past decade.

Researchers at Miami University in Ohio compared screening rates for the most common types of cancers with the screening rates of cancer survivors.

They found that the number of screenings has dropped for all types except colorectal cancer in the last 10 years.

The drop is a result of disagreements over screening guidelines as well as an increase in the number of uninsured Americans, according to the study's authors.
