In Vernon Hills at the historic Cuneo Mansion, Sunday and Monday are the last days to drive through nearly 97 acres lit and decorated for the holidays. Admission is $10 per car Sunday. It's open from 6-10pm. 1350 N. Milwaukee. www.luc.edu/cuneo/lectures/holidaylightshow/

Sunday is the final day you can see Zion's Shiloh House in its Christmas glory. It was the home of the man who founded Zion. It's open Sunday from 5 until 9pm. Admission is free. 1300 Shiloh Boulevard, www.zionchamber.com/

Now to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle where the kids can hunt for gnomes in addition to all of the other winter events going on indoors and out. The gnome hunt continues daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through February. www.mortonarb.org/calendar/article/22979/gnome-hunt.htm

And if you'd like your children to experience what life was like in the 1920s, you can take them to Wagner farm in Glenview Sunday. They also have silos you can walk through. It's open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free! 1510 Wagner Road, Glenview
