Police pulled over a Jaguar in the 9400 block of South Chicago around 1 a.m. Saturday morning.
The officers say they ordered the driver and a passenger out of the car. When the driver tried to jump back in the car and fought with police.
Police say when the driver reached for his gun, an officer shot him.
Both officers and the driver were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The children were not injured and are being cared for by an aunt.
