Cook Co. sheriff launches crime-reporting App, iWatch

The Cook County sheriff will launch iWatch on February 1, 2013. People can download it on their smartphones for free. Sheriff Tom Dart says it's available in 40 languages and even more will be added.

Users can include photos with their tip.The information goes to the sheriff's department and local police.

"It is allowing every citizen out there to become an asset to law enforcement in trying to stem all the different criminal issues that we have out there right now," Sheriff Dart said.

Dart says iWatch will also provide information on cold cases.

The technology was purchased with money forfeited by those convicted of crimes.
