Police say they are trying to figure out what caused the crash.
Neighbors say it looks like the driver of a Jeep crossed into the opposite lanes and crashed into a Grand Prix.
"It was a very ugly scene. It's terrible the way it looks. The cars are demolished. There was fire in both of them. Looks like a person went through the windshield. I mean, there's a big hole on one side of the windshield," said witness Al Noskowiak. "The ambulances were in a hurry to take anyone to the hospital. So, I'm afraid it's bad news all around."
Residents said the roads were wet, but there was no ice at the time of the crash.
Besides the two people who died, a woman who was in one of the cars was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
